Badger Mine and Museum
The Van Matre brothers began mining lead and developed the Badger Lot Diggings, now known as the Badger Mine. With a guide you will descend stairs to the main drift of the mine, extending beneath the city. You will marvel at the small side tunnels of the mine. In addition to mining exhibits, you will see exhibits of early farm tools, medical equipment, a drugstore, a tobacco shop, a turn of-the-century kitchen, a blacksmith shop, and a carpenter's shop. Boscobel Depot Museum
Built in 1857, before the Civil War. The railroad was the principal means of transportation of fright and passengers to and from the area. The Depot was used as a boarding site for over 2,000 Civil War soldiers and for soldiers in both World Wars I and II. The building has been restored and now houses the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development offices and a turn of the century museum. Call or email for more information, or pull it up on the web.

Elmer's Auto and Toy Museum
One of the world's largest collections of pedal cars and antique and modern toys. More than 100 antique, collector and muscle cars on display. Motorcycles,scooters, bikes, wagons, a large doll display, and an antique tool room are located in the five buildings on a hill overlooking the Mississippi River, with a view second to none. First Capitol Museum
Take a drive through the picturesque hamlet of Belmont to First Capitol for a firsthand look at where a hardy group of fledgling territorial legislators founded Wisconsin government. Modest frame buildings today stand sentinel where these first lawmakers huddled in the cold in the fall and winter of 1836 to build the framework of law and order that would evolve into the state of Wisconsin 12 years later. Open 10 am to 4 pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Fort Crawford Medical Museum
Visit the reconstructed military hospital of Fort Crawford, site of Dr Beaumont's famous experiments in human digestion. Extensive exhibits feature the growth and development of medicine in Wisconsin from Native American herbal remedies to modern practices. A National Historic Landmark. Fountain City Museum
Saturday and Sunday 1 pm - 3 pm, May through October. Fountain City Historical Society sponsors the Fountain City Museum. It has many items including a collection of arrowheads and Indian artifacts which is one of the largest in the state. Free admission.

Fountain City Wildlife Mural
Open year around, closed on weekends. A 36-foot mural depicting several of Wisconsin's endangered plants and animals. The artist: Susan Pitt. This mural is located in the 130 year old restored Post Office. Free admission.

Grand Army of the Republic Museum
J. McDermott Post 101 and its auxiliary, the Woman's Relief Corps purchased the former church to house the organizations. This is the last remaining G.A.R. Hall in Wisconsin. The history of cheesemaking in the Monroe area. Take a stroll back in time, to the "beginning" when the new and old worlds when there was a cheese factory at every rural crossroad. Hear voices from the past tell their stories of hardship and joy. Prairie Moon Sculpture Garden & Museum
The late Herman Rusch-farmer,fiddler, self-taught artist-created over 40 sculptures within a garden enclosed by a 267 ft. arched fince after he retired. This historic site was completely restored in 1994 by the Kohler Foundation. Tour guides are available with advanced notice. Gardens Open Daily all year. Riverside & Great Northern Railway
Open weekends, Apr - Dec; daily, Memorial Day - Labor Day. Fifteen inch gauge steam-powered operating railroad, 45 minute ride covering 3 miles. This living railroad museum looks back into the history of railroading in Wisconsin. Nestled in the toe of Juneau County is the road bed of the Lacrosse and Milwaukee Railroad built 1857. Sandley's moved their operation here in 1952 from Janesville. The buildings represent railroad facilities found at railroad terminals at the turn of the 20th century.

A 55 ton rock rolled down 550 feet from the bluff and into a bedroom of this house at 440 North Shore Dr in Fountain City. 25,000 people have toured this historic site. Rollo Jamison Museum, Mining Museum
Group tours year - long by appointment. Changing galleries open Mon - Fri 9 - 4 Nov - April. Rollo Jamison was born in Beetown, Wisconsin in 1899. He started collecting arrowheads on the family farm. This was just the beginning of his life - long interest in history and the objects used by people in their everyday lives which grew to a collection of 20,000 items. Exhibits of carriages, farm implements, tools, a tavern/general store, a kitchen and parlot, musical instruments and mechanical music boxes.

State Agricultural Museum
As Wisconsin agriculture evolved, so did industries associated with it, many of them headquartered in the state's industrial centers. The collections include implements manufactured by one of the most famous names in American agriculture. The Mining Museum
The museum traces the development of lead and zinc mining in the Upper Mississippi Valley through models, dioramas, artifacts and photographs. A guided tour includes a walk down into the Bevans Lead, an 1845 lead mine which produced over two million pounds of lead ore in one year, a visit to a head - frame where you can see how zinc ore was hoisted from a mine and hand - sorted, and a train ride around the museum grounds in ore cars pulled by a 1931 locomotive.
