Saturday, November 23, 2019. 3:00 pm. The students of Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy proudly present this new work based on the immortal poem, featuring an array of splendid holiday characters. It's Christmas Eve, and a sleeping Marie dreams of a journey to a magical land - a land filled with toys and elves playing and working happily!  Word and Image
Wednesday, August 7, 2019 through Monday, December 2, 2019. Word and Image explores the combination of text and image in post-war prints drawn from the Haggerty Museum of Art's collection. Whether incorporating texts as visual elements in their work, or responding to the contents of literary texts, all of the exhibiting artists combine word and image. Includes works by Corita Kent, Jasper Johns, Edward Rushca, Mark Bradford, Robert Indiana, Andy Warhol, and others. Free.  Ben Shahn: For the Sake of a Single Verse
Friday, August 16, 2019 through Sunday, December 15, 2019. A portfolio of twenty-four lithographs from the Haggerty Museum of Art's collection created by artist Ben Shahn. The prints illustrate a select passage from Rainer Maria Rilke's only novel. This semi-autobiographical novel tells the story of a college student from an aristocratic Danish family living in destitute in Paris in the early 1900s. Although Shahn first read the novel while visiting Paris in the 1920s, he didn't create the illustrations until 1968-a year before his death. Free.  The Ariel Poems
Friday, August 16, 2019 through Sunday, December 15, 2019. The pamphlets featured in this exhibition are part of the Raynor Memorial Libraries Special Collections and University Archives, which holds a complete collection of titles in the series. Many of the poets are well-known today, but perhaps the most significant of these is T. S. Eliot. This exhibition was curated by Amy Cooper Cary, Head, Special Collections and University Archives, Raynor Memorial Libraries and Dr. Angela Sorby, Professor, Department of English. Free.  Objects Redux: 50 Years After Objects: USA Defined American Craft

Revisiting an ambitious large-scale project from 50 years ago, Objects Redux combines work featured in the landmark craft exhibition, Objects: USA with works featured in a related sales catalog. Drawing on RAM's collection, as well as generous lenders from the Racine area, this exhibition investigates how the public was introduced to late twentieth-century craft as a field that was as interested in personal, material, and aesthetic concerns, as well as functional ones.  Objects Redux: Clay, Glass, and Metal, 1960-1985

As part of a series that showcases changes in studio craft in the last part of the twentieth century, this exhibition features clay, glass, and metal works made between 1960 and 1985. In some instances, multiple works by the same artist are shown in order to reflect how their work changed during a span of time when there was a lot of fluctuation in the field.  Objects Redux: Studio Craft in Context, 1960-1985

In the retrospective light of history, artworks can sometimes be read as "of the time" they were made-not just because of the particular artist that made them but also because of aesthetic or material choices. This exhibition plays to that idea and places studio craft in the context of two-dimensional paintings and works on paper made between 1960 and 1985.  It's Like Poetry: Building A Toshiko Takaezu Archive at RAM
Friday, August 2, 2019 through Sunday, July 26, 2020. While unassuming in her disposition, artist Toshiko Takaezu (1922-2011) was a bona fide ceramic superstar who pushed the boundaries of clay in the late twentieth century. Inspired by nature and the environment, Takaezu created work that embodied a poetic balance between art and life. This exhibition in Racine Art Museum's Windows on Fifth Gallery features a selection from the more than 30 Takaezu works now in the museum's collection. Representative Hesselbein is sensitive to the needs of senior citizens. She serves on the Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs, and is Vice-Chair for the Speaker's Task Force on Alzheimer's and Dementia.  Third Annual Twin Triathlon

Fun event is unique in the Northwoods-8K paddle on North Twin Lake, followed by a 16K bike ride, then a 5K run. Individual ($35), a family or a team ($90). Do one leg, or all three!
