Objects Redux: Studio Craft in Context, 1960-1985
Sunday, October 20, 2019 through Sunday, February 2, 2020. In the retrospective light of history, artworks can sometimes be read as "of the time" they were made-not just because of the particular artist that made them but also because of aesthetic or material choices. This exhibition plays to that idea and places studio craft in the context of two-dimensional paintings and works on paper made between 1960 and 1985. Racine Art Museum, 441 Main Street, Racine, Racine County. Call 262-638-8300. Subjects: Museums, Art, Galleries [E-108791]
It's Like Poetry: Building A Toshiko Takaezu Archive at RAM
Friday, August 2, 2019 through Sunday, July 26, 2020. Inspired by nature and the environment, Takaezu created work that embodied a poetic balance between art and life. This exhibition in Racine Art Museum's Windows on Fifth Gallery features a selection from the more than 30 Takaezu works now in the museum's collection. Adults: $7, Seniors (62 and over) and Students: $5, RAM Members and Children (12 and under): FREE. Racine Art Museum, 441 Main Street, Racine, Racine County. Call 262-638-8300.
