 Full Moon Walk
Friday, January 10, 2020. 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Traverse the two-mile trail around Mauthe Lake under the light of a full moon. Dress for the weather including snow boots.  Ice Age Legacy Exploring Nature Program
Saturday, January 11, 2020. 10:00-11:45 am. With leafless trees and snow covered hills, the glacial landforms pop on the landscape. We'll start at the Ice Age Visitor Center for an overview of our Ice Age legacy and then carpool to see the kames, drumlins, eskers, kettles and other landforms created by the glaciers. Friday, January 17, 2020. 9:00 am. Although Havenwoods State Forest is in the city, it is home to a wide variety of critters that call it home. Join DNR wildlife staff as we search out signs (tracks or scat) of these critters. All hikes are open to those over 12 years of age and are free to attend. Dress for the weather!  Get Outdoors! Learn to Ice Fish
Friday, January 17, 2020. 12:30-2:30 p.m. the Mauthe Lake picnic shelter for a presentation on safety tips, and appropriate gear and tackle. Then it's off to Mauthe Lake to try our best at luring those fish out of the water. Equipment, tackle, and bait will be provided. This program is best for people over 6 years old.  Candlelight Ski/Hike
Saturday, February 1, 2020. 5:30 - 8:30 pm. Cross-country ski or hike in the Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit by candlelight. At the bonfire join fellow hikers and skiers for hot drinks and snacks provided by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine. The trail is perfect for novice skiers with no steep hills or sharp turns. The Zillmer shelter building will be lit and heated. Trail passes waived for this event, but a Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required. Saturday, February 8, 2020. 6:30 pm. Snowshoe with a naturalist to enjoy the night beauty of the forest and winter skies. Learn some snowshoe history, constellations, and folklore. The program is dependent on adequate snow cover; please call for conditions. The park will also be open for cross-country skiing this evening. Saturday, February 8, 2020. 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. After an overview of snowshoeing, we will head out for an invigorating snowshoe walk through the woods. Snowshoes provided for those who need them. Bring a quart of chili to add to the chili dump for lunch at noon. With warm, filled bellies, it's off to the hill for some sledding. Remember your favorite sleds or snow tubes.  Snowshoe and XC Ski Rental in the Park
Saturday, December 21, 2019 through Sunday, February 23, 2020. 8 am to 4 pm. Snowshoes and cross-country skis are available for individual day-use rental within the park when there is more than six inches of snow on the ground. Beginners welcome. Winter boots worn with snowshoes. Ski boot sizes European 36-49 and two sets of kids' boots/skis. Extra socks help with ski boot fitting.
