Fall is a great time to look for spiders! Drop in and play in a giant web, learn about Wisconsin spiders, and make your own spider web. Wednesday, October 23, 2019. 1 pm. Adults and youth over 12 are invited to join a naturalist. Free and open to the public. Dress for the weather! Dogs are not allowed. Saturday, November 2, 2019. 10:30 am. Spend time with a naturalist on a family-friendly hike. We'll use magnifiers, binoculars, or other exploring tools to discover what's happening outdoors. Dress for the weather. Explore the fields, woods, and wetlands in fall to see how plants and animals have been getting ready for winter. We'll peek under the water, down in holes, and in the grass to discover their strategies. Free.  Hunter Sight-in Day
Saturday, November 9, 2019. 8:00 am - 3:30 pm. All are welcome to come and sight in their firearms for the upcoming deer season. People only need to bring their own firearms and ammunition. Experienced range officers have volunteered to provide supervision that will keep the event safe for everyone involved. Targets will be set up at 25, 50 and 100 yards. Bore sighting is available, as are spotting scopes, targets, eye and ear protection, snacks, beverages and a hot lunch - all at no cost. Free.  Thousand-Miler An Evening with Nature
Tuesday, November 12, 2019. 7:30pm-9:00 pm. Location: Turning Rivers Camp (located off Youth Camp Road between County Road G and County Road S near New Fane) Millions of people take to the Ice Age National Scenic Trail every year, but only a few intrepid hikers become Thousand-Milers, those who travel the full 1000 miles. Join McManus as she shares tales of her incredible adventures of through hiking the entire Ice Age Trail.  Winter Solstice Night Hike
Friday, December 20, 2019. 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. Zillmer Trails Area (located off County Road SS between County Road G and Hwy 67 near New Prospect) Gather around the fire as we share traditions of the longest night of the year. We will then travel through the dark woods to find out what animals are awake and braving the cold of a winter night. This hike is best for families/groups with children older than 6 years old.  Halloween Nature Hikes
Friday, October 18, 2019 through Saturday, October 19, 2019. 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm. Traverse through the dark autumn woods to meet those things with wings: the fast-flying bat, the radiant scarlet tanager, dazzling dragonfly, and many more. This is not a scary hike and is best for those over 5 years of age. Groups leave every six minutes. The last hour-long hike leaves at 8:30 pm. While waiting for your hike, enjoy playing fun-filled games, making a craft to take home, or snacking by the glow of a campfire. In the event of severe weather, the event will be canceled.
